A Beach Wedding it shall be

The Wife to Be (WTB) and I have just started jotting down ideas for the wedding reception.

The WTB is very convinced she wants a Beach Wedding and I am toying with the idea of rejecting the tradition of holding the reception in the afternoons and evenings and having an early morning reception instead.

Beach Wedding, Gazebo

A new dawn to signify a new beginning.

That’s when the WTB reminded me that combining all our inputs together to make the wedding might not be such a good idea.

For example, holding a beach wedding where the guests are dressed in their finest sheer beach wear in the cold morning air might be… how do I put it… too Perky an idea…(Come to think of it, it would only be a bad idea to her)

Anyway, over time, we found out that there are only so many places to hold a decent outdoor beach wedding here in Singapore.

Even with the less than pristine beaches, the imported sand, the poserly crowd and the headache inducing “music” at the so called beach cafe, the obvious choice would be Sentosa.

We were there over the previous weekend, (Or the BEST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS EVER as I call it) and got a chance to check out a few potential spots to hold any receptions/dinners/breakfasts we might have.

First up:
Cafe Del Mar

Cafe Del Mar Sentosa Singapore, Potential Wedding Spot

Why it could be good:

Lazy atmosphere
- A decent pool that would be great for any solemnization
- Very unique cushioned deck chairs for people to lounge around
- A pool for adventurous guests to play around in
- Good sound system
- Did I mention the pool? A pool BESIDES the sea? You have to give it to them

Why it would SUCK:

- HORRIBLE “music”. Ok, I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt. I generally draw the line at calling repeatedly playing the death screech of a squirrel using a turn table “music”. Although getting certain guests a splitting headache, causing them to be unable to play certain “party games” is a plus point.
- Good Sound System
- Very unique cushioned deck chairs that MANY people have already lounged around in. Do I need to highlight CUSHIONED which, incidentally comes from the French word “Cu” which means “Retaining” and “Sion” which means “the smell and bodily secretion of Fat oily bodies “
- A pool that many adventurous guests might try to drop well dressed people in designers’ dress into.

Final Verdict: Nope, don’t think so.

Anyway, from the way things are going, we’ll be going back to Sentosa a few more times to do some site recce. Will keep updating this site once we have been to see more places.
